For users world-wide, Odoo 20 represents an important evolution of the ERP, combining increased AI capabilities with practical improvements across manufacturing, inventory, warehousing, product management, retail, accounting, and other core business processes.

Odoo 20 introduces AI agents that can be triggered through scheduled and automated actions, create and update records, work with files, respond interactively to users, and use different AI models based on the task. Odoo also introduces connectivity through Model Context Protocol (MCP), opening up possibilities for connecting AI with business data and workflows.

For businesses, this represents a shift: AI within ERP can move beyond generating content or answering questions toward helping execute business processes.

The new release strengthens production planning and execution with automatic planning of production backorders, improved manufacturing order scheduling, better visibility into component availability and remaining production time, enhanced manufacturing costing, and the ability to split ongoing manufacturing orders when the remaining quantity needs to be produced later.

Continuous Production is a noteworthy enhancement in Odoo 20. When enabled, manufacturing operations can begin as soon as some quantities from the preceding operation become available, helping manufacturers reduce waiting time between production stages.

Bill of Materials management has also been enhanced. Manufacturers can compare BoMs, work more easily with components and sub-assemblies, capture additional manufacturing costs and identify where components are being used when replacements or engineering changes are required.

Odoo 20’s PLM enhancements complement these capabilities with improved BoM comparison, product version tracking and a comprehensive ECO report that brings BoM changes and cost comparisons together.

A useful enhancement is the ability to suggest minimum and maximum inventory levels for reordering rules based on factors such as demand history, desired minimum days of coverage, and ordering frequency.

Odoo 20 also introduces a stock aging report, giving distributors greater visibility into inventory that may have remained in stock for extended periods. Combined with demand-based replenishment, this can help businesses make better purchasing and inventory decisions.

The Traceability Report brings upstream and downstream lot and serial numbers together, while variant-specific HS codes and packaging provide additional flexibility for businesses managing complex product ranges.

Barcode and warehouse operations receive practical enhancements, including improved batch receipts, bulk lot and serial number generation, and package-level receiving workflows.

For distributors operating across multiple warehouses, suppliers and sales channels, these improvements can mean better stock visibility, faster warehouse execution and more informed replenishment decisions.

Point of Sale now supports multiple currencies at checkout, improved employee access controls, expired-product notifications, simplified inventory management, enhanced self-ordering and the ability to deliver receipts through WhatsApp or SMS.

Product-centric businesses will also benefit from enhancements around product variants, packaging, HS codes, pricelists and product imagery.

Product images can now appear directly on sales orders and associated PDFs, while quotation templates provide improved options for organizing and presenting product offers.

Odoo 20 supports importing variant-specific information including attributes, costs and quantities, alongside improvements to multilingual product-data import and export.
For retailers and e-commerce companies managing increasingly large product catalogs and multiple customer touchpoints, these changes strengthen the connection between product information, commerce, inventory and fulfillment.

In the United States, Odoo introduces a new “Avalara Included” integration option and redesigns the US Sales Tax Report to provide multi-jurisdiction breakdowns, state-level summaries, and improved support for exemptions and non-taxable goods.

For Canada, enhancements include localized accounting improvements and batch customer-payment processing through CPA 005 Pre-Authorized Debit files.

In Belgium, Odoo 20 expands payroll capabilities across areas including Dimona, Joint Committees, meal vouchers, holiday pay and other payroll and compliance processes.

For businesses in the UAE, enhancements include an updated chart of accounts aligned with IFRS and UAE Commercial Companies Law, VAT audit capabilities, and payroll improvements for Emiratization, WPS, and end-of-service benefits.

In India, improvements include a new bill-of-entry flow for imported goods, more flexible TDS processing, expanded GST Composition Scheme support and Schedule III financial statements.
